Cactus Comics

Branding & Comic
Case

Welcome to the Cactus Universe. Cactus Comics strives to bring surreal story plots to a real setting, introducing heartfelt, relatable characters to a dark and gritty late-modern era America. Sprawling across the post-civil war United States, the Cactus Universe explores the changes brought on by modernist movements, urban expansion, industrialism and organised crime whilst having it's core immersed in wild-western perception.

The universe begins in the events of Cactuses original comic, 'Simple Folk', illustrating the trials and tribulations of two spirited gunslingers that form a brotherhood in the midst of leaving a life of crime to claim thier stake of the American dream.

STORIES

Adventure with a vintage soul.

Themes & Plots

Simple Folk proudly wears it's heart on it's sleeve, boasting touching storylines that keeps readers invested in the choices and decisions our characters face in each issue. There's drama, romance, action, adventure, turmoil and most importantly, comedy. Cactus thinks it's most effective when humour is used to bridge the gap between the serious underbelly of plots and we don't accept it any other way.

Through depicting the hunger from being broke, ambition to chasing dreams and the battle of making the right choice or beneficial decision, the themes explored in Simple Folk will slingshot fans through the seven rings of emotional hell.

The first season of Simple Folk carries the weight of introducing our key players whilst setting the scene of the universe. Configuratively, the greatest way to do so is to start big. The main story begins in the aftermath of a train robbery gone sour, and dwells in the perspectives of our protagonists, whom have been betrayed by a fellow gang memeber. The rest is for you to discover!
